With a new school year starting all over Russia on September 1st, in August all Perm schools were inspected for readiness to conduct full in-person instruction.

Last year, a combination of precautions —keeping students in separate “pods”, encouraging hand washing, temperature checks in the lobby, quarantining — have been effective. Masking indoors is not required.  Having teachers move between classrooms rather than having students fill the hallways during passing periods helped limit cross-over of students and teachers. This year these multiple Covid precautions will be the same.

Parents should expect interruptions to in-person school when Covid cases surge in the community. All teachers should get fully immunized by the start of school year, for children vaccination is not compulsory.

Schools should follow regional government guidelines on proper disinfecting and sanitizing classrooms and common areas.
